Jacobs in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking an On-Site Electrical Engineer to lead field work on critical electrical infrastructure projects. The role serves as the on-site representative, coordinating with engineering teams and clients to drive design, construction, and startup activities.

You will work in a demanding environment, apply deep knowledge of substations, MV/LV distribution, and power systems, and ensure safety, quality, and compliance on active construction sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years in electrical design, construction, operations, or commissioning; or 5+ years on hyperscale data center projects.
• Experience with substations, switchgear, UPS, generators, MV/LV distribution, relaying, and critical electrical systems.
• Familiarity with electrical codes and testing requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills; able to work on active construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-site representative for electrical systems.
• Support construction activities involving MV/LV distribution, grounding, and controls.
• Conduct daily field observations for quality, safety, and progress.
• Coordinate design issues and field modifications with engineering teams.
• Facilitate RFIs, submittals, and equipment substitutions.
• Support BIM coordination and interdisciplinary reviews.
• Monitor installation against drawings and design intent, identify deficiencies.
• Coordinate inspections, testing, energization planning, and startup support.
• Collaborate with commissioning, QA/QC, and Owner teams for successful implementation.
• Prepare weekly site observation reports and participate in project meetings.
