Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an On-Site Electrical Engineer for a project near Baton Rouge, LA. You will act as the on-site representative, supporting installation and delivery of electrical infrastructure and ensuring clear communication among stakeholders.

The role requires 10+ years in electrical design/construction or 5+ years in hyperscale data center projects, familiarity with substations, MV/LV distribution, and protective relaying. Strong safety and on-site collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 10+ years in electrical design, construction, operations, or commissioning; or 5+ years on hyperscale data center projects.
• Experience with substations, switchgear, UPS, generators, MV/LV distribution, protective relaying, and mission-critical electrical systems.
• Familiarity with electrical codes, standards, and testing requirements.
• Strong technical troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Ability to safely work on active construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-site representative for electrical systems.
• Support construction activities involving MV/LV distribution, UPS, generators, and grounding.
• Conduct daily field observations for quality, safety, and progress.
• Coordinate design issues and field modifications with engineering teams.
• Facilitate review of RFIs, submittals, and equipment substitutions.
• Support BIM coordination and interdisciplinary coordination efforts.
• Monitor installation for compliance with drawings and design intent.
• Identify deficiencies, installation concerns, and schedule risks.
• Coordinate inspections, testing, energization planning, and startup support.
• Collaborate with commissioning, QA/QC, and Owner teams to ensure system implementation.
• Prepare weekly site observation reports and technical recommendations.
