Job summary

United Rentals, Inc. is seeking a Field Diesel Mechanic (Field Service Tech II) to perform maintenance and repairs on complex rental equipment at customer sites. You will work safely and professionally while delivering exceptional service and supporting our service department.

This role involves travel to customer job sites, owning the necessary tools, lifting up to 45 lbs, and mentoring junior techs. We value teamwork, strong communication, and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• 1–2 years of experience repairing/maintaining vehicles and equipment.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines.
• Must own tools applicable to position.
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
• Safety Sensitive position per company policy.

Responsibilities

• Safe maintenance and repair of complex rental equipment across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
• Travel to customer sites for repair/maintenance; keep service vehicle clean and professional.
• Assist in training of lower level technicians as needed.
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders).
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts.
• Other duties as assigned.
