Job summary

Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to configure, test, and support our financial systems on site. You will translate business needs into technical specs, develop reports, and maintain documentation to support decision-making and compliance.

Qualifications

We provide our employees a top-rated benefits package, supportive work culture, and more!GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe Business Systems Analyst (BSA) reports to the Chief Information Officer and is responsible for the configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of various financial information systems. In particular, the BSA focuses on general financial and revenue cycle application testing as well as SQL report writing and Tableau dashboards and visualizations, HL7 interface implementation and testing. The candidate will translate business needs into technical specifications, contribute to integration design and testing, and produce high-quality documentation and reports that support decision-making, compliance, and operational continuity. This role requires a strong, hands-on technologist who can independently design, build, troubleshoot, and optimize enterprise-scale solutions. This position is 100% onsite.ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES1. Analyze and oversee financial and revenue cycle system performance and identify potential issues requiring intervention.2. Plan and coordinate implementation of changes and enhancement to existing financial software systems.3. Assist in the successful planning, configuration, and implementation of new financial software applications.4. Assure adequate documentation of system procedures, policies, and routines to support on-going utilization of systems.5. Consult with vendor resources on systems ensuring maximal system utilization and operations.6. Serve as communication liaison between system users and ITS to explore information system needs and to identify and define areas of improvement.7. Assist in the research and development of detailed specifications for new software applications as requested.8. Meet Joint Commission and other accrediting agency requirements in the areas of training, education, and use of financial applications.9. Provide assistance in the development of programs, reports, and queries to support on-going and ad hoc reporting needs of the organization.10. Remain current on healthcare industry trends, financial software and applications, technology trends and training.11. Assure projects and assignments are completed in a timely manner.12. Provide input for Information Technology Services budgeting and planning.13. With assistance of the technical support team, assure system back-ups, data continuity and disaster recovery procedures and policies are developed and effectively implemented.14. Assure information shared between financial and clinical systems and applications is accurate and that data transfers are free of errors and omissions.15. Coordinate communication between vendors and users on system changes, enhancements, and issues.16. Develop training curriculum content in cooperation with departmental users and Education Department. Must be able to conduct formal training sessions and one-to-one training as needed.17. Monitor vendor maintenance and support tickets for all assigned systems for timely and thorough resolution of problems escalating issues as necessary through vendor and supervisor.18. Provide routine updates to supervisor and other team members about outstanding issues, updates, and trends.19. Provide assistance to help desk staff on issues related to assigned applications.20. Provide on-call support when required for all financial application systems. Provide weekend and night support to Information Technology Services on a rotational or emergency basis.21. Perform other duties as needed.PERFORMANCE STANDARDS1. Receives consistently positive customer satisfaction from internal users.2. Daily maintenance and support activities for assigned applications are completed in a timely manner.3. New projects are completed in timely and satisfactory manner with appropriate utilization of resources.4. Effectively participates in strategic and tactical planning processes as it relates to the enhancement of and use of technology solutions to streamline operational processes.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS1. Bachelor's degree in related field or Associate’s degree with 2 years’ experience.2. 1 year experience as Information Technology Analyst.3. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)4. Experience with Microsoft BI, Tableau or other data visualization tools5. Excellent customer relations skills.6. Strong verbal and written communication skills.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS1. Successful project management experience.2. Working experience with interface message engines and Health Level 7 (HL7) message standards3. Previous analyst experience in healthcare system applications support.4.
