Job summary

The Oregon Department of Corrections seeks an on-site Institution Registered Nurse (Salem) to provide comprehensive health care within a secure facility. You will manage direct patient care, coordinate services, educate patients, document care, and support unit operations with professional autonomy.

This role emphasizes continuity of care for incarcerated individuals, addressing mental health and chronic conditions while benefiting from a supportive AFSCME represented environment and shift

Qualifications

• Possess a valid Oregon Registered Professional Nurse’s License at the time of appointment.
• Preference given to candidates with an unencumbered license.
• NOTE: agency may require training or experience in a specialized area of nursing.

Responsibilities

• Direct Patient Care: provide nursing care including assessment, planning, medication administration, procedures, and treatment in accordance with ODOC policies.
• Coordination of Care: schedule on-site and community-based services to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Communication: educate patients and serve as a resource for staff; advocate for patient care needs.
• Documentation: maintain accurate records of patient care and requests for medical attention.
• Administrative: coordinate nursing activities and manage unit operations in the absence of management.
