Job summary
Amazon is seeking a Controls Integration Engineer to lead on-site deployment, integration, and commissioning of automated material handling systems in an on-site role in Joliet, IL. You will bring up IPCs, PLCs, HMIs, and industrial networks, working with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to meet safety and project standards.
The role requires hands-on debugging, network troubleshooting, and technical leadership during deployment, with travel up to 50%.
Qualifications
- Experience with networking fundamentals and hands-on equipment
- Willingness to travel up to 50% for on-site commissioning
- Hands-on experience with industrial protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, EtherCAT, Modbus TCP
- Experience programming with modern languages (C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby)
Responsibilities
- Execute on-site commissioning for sorters, conveyors, and automated work cells
- Configure IPCs, PLCs, HMIs, networks and field devices per project standards
- Perform I/O checks, network validation, and system bring-up activities
- Troubleshoot PLC logic, device configuration, and system faults across controls and electrical domains
- Provide on-site technical leadership and coordinate with integrators and vendors
