Job summary

Riley Construction is seeking a Superintendent in Madison, WI to coordinate all site activities, manage manpower, budgets, schedules and subcontractors. You will uphold safety, quality and regulatory standards while communicating with owners, architects and suppliers to keep projects on time and within scope.

The ideal candidate has strong leadership, construction field experience and the ability to supervise 1–40 workers, including Riley personnel and subcontractors, with solid problem-solving

Qualifications

• High school certificate or equivalent is required.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Construction field experience.
• Can supervise 1-40 employees, including Riley personnel and subcontractors.
• Completed the Supervisory Training Program (STP) modules sponsored by the AGC.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals and procedures.
• Strong communication with owners, architects, suppliers and staff.
• Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry.
• Good problem-solving and instruction execution abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist project management in pre-construction planning, including procedures, schedules and budgets.
• Study specifications to plan procedures and staffing for each phase.
• Order procurement of tools, equipment and materials to meet schedules.
• Oversee foremen and maintain safety, order and cleanliness on site.
• Attend weekly safety and progress meetings and run them when required.
• Direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors to prevent delays.
• Communicate with owners, clients and architects.
• Implement changes on the job site (RFIs, documentation changes).
• Resolve conflicts with supervisory and labor representatives.
• Coordinate with engineers and suppliers to improve methods.
• Inspect progress to ensure workmanship matches specs and schedule.
• Maintain labor and equipment cost control.
• Prepare or review reports on progress and costs; adjust schedules as needed.
• Complete accurate daily logs and time/material records.
• Conduct post-construction review after project completion.
