Job summary

BB&E is seeking a dynamic Construction Engineering Technician to support the NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic on-site at Naval Station Great Lakes, Great Lakes, IL. The role focuses on construction quality management, safety, and technical support across multiple systems including HVAC, electrical, and structural elements.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of QC management or 10 years of foreman experience in related trades, with US citizenship and certification requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of verified experience as a Quality Control Manager working for General Contractors on NAVFAC or US Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) projects OR 10 years of verified foreman experience in one or more trades: Concrete, Mechanical, Electrical, Masonry, or Carpentry on commercial/industrial/military projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall coordination of the construction quality management program for assigned projects.
• Review and provide recommendations toward approval of the contractor quality control plan.
• Attend selective quality control, preparatory, and initial meetings, and monitor three-phase checklists for accuracy and thoroughness.
• Provide remarks on Government QA reports, particularly on critical, definable features of work.
• Take/file/distribute progress photos.
• Validate quantity, condition, and approval of materials on site before Government payments.
• Coordinate testing and commissioning/certification of critical systems.
• Ensure quality workmanship by specs and industry standards.
• Attend/witness tests and review test reports and results.
• Keep the Government sponsor advised on project status.
