Job summary

Abbott Construction is seeking a seasoned Superintendent to oversee daily job-site operations, including scheduling, production, and procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment. You will supervise direct labor and manage any contracted work to ensure timely project completion.

Responsibilities include coordinating with the Project Manager, developing look-ahead schedules, directing procurement, and communicating progress to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction related field; 5+ years commercial construction experience.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project site.
• Reads blueprints and understands building codes and design requirements.
• Good written and verbal communication; ability to coordinate with subs and clients.

Responsibilities

• Plan procedures from specs, staffing and schedules for each construction phase.
• Work with Project Manager to develop and use look-ahead schedules to monitor progress.
• Coordinate pre-construction meetings with Project Manager.
• Direct procurement of tools and materials to meet schedules.
• Keep all parties informed of construction issues and progress through regular updates.
• Resolve issues with supervisory and labor representatives; improve construction methods.
• Inspect ongoing work to ensure compliance with specs and schedules.
• Contribute to preparing the Project Management Plan with PM.
• Ensure safety, quality standards and housekeeping policies are followed.
