Job summary

CLGT Solutions, LLC dba CLOVEHITCH seeks qualified on-site Chuukese interpreters to provide professional in-person interpretation services across the Hawaiian Islands.

Responsibilities include accurate interpretation between client staff and LEP clients in health, legal, and social services, while maintaining confidentiality and neutrality as an independent contractor (1099). Prior government/healthcare interpretation experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have working proficiency (ILR 2+) in English and target language in health, legal, and social services domains.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret accurately in a professional or social services environment.
• Prior in-person interpretation experience in government, healthcare, legal, or social services settings preferred.
• Interpreter training or certification preferred (e.g., CCHI, CMI, court interpreter certification).
• Knowledge of interpreter ethics, including confidentiality, impartiality, and accuracy.
• Familiarity with Hawaii’s Pacific Islander communities and terminology, especially Chuukese, Marshallese, Samoan, Hawaiian languages.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to stay composed in sensitive situations.
• Ability to provide services in person at various locations; pass background checks if required.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, complete, and impartial in-person interpretation between staff and LEP clients.
• Interpret in the first person, relaying all content completely without editing or omission.
• Serve as a communication liaison to ensure mutual understanding with neutrality and professionalism.
• Adhere to professional interpreter codes of ethics, maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
