Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA seeks a Project Manager for UVA Manning SPARK to drive execution of early-stage drug discovery programs from discovery to licensing or clinical development. You will work with SPARK investigators, industry advisors, CRO/CDMO partners, and UVA leadership to ensure timely, compliant execution.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required and four+ years of project/program management experience in biotech/pharma.
• Experience coordinating drug development programs through major milestones (IND enabling, regulatory interactions).
• Proficiency with project management tools and external partner management is expected.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Target Product Profiles and integrated project plans, budgets, timelines, milestones and risk registers.
• Track progress with stage-gate reviews and advisory boards; synthesize data into actionable recommendations for leadership.
• Plan and manage lead optimization, IND-enabling studies, and regulatory strategy with external experts.
• Identify, evaluate, engage and manage CROs/CDMOs, consultants, and other external partners with defined scopes and timelines.
• Build and sustain relationships with SPARK investigators, industry advisors, licensing and venture groups to support IP strategy, licensing, and funding.
• Coordinate student and faculty teams across UVA on analyses related to market, payer, IP, and regulatory aspects.
• Develop portfolio governance frameworks, dashboards, and reports; monitor INDs, licenses, and company formation outcomes.
• Manage SPARK program operations and network activities with Stanford SPARK GLOBAL.
