Job summary

Astronautics Corporation of America in the United States seeks an Avionics Principal Systems Engineer to lead system architecture, design, and verification for complex avionics programs. You will guide cross-functional teams across cockpit displays, navigation, radios, autopilot integration and more.

The role requires extensive experience in avionics systems, DOORS-based traceability, and regulatory compliance. On-site at Phoenix, AZ with travel as needed by customers and programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 10 years of systems engineering experience in avionics or complex aerospace systems.
• Experience with requirements management and change tracking tools such as DOORS and ADO.
• Expertise with avionics architectures and regulatory design guidelines (ARP4754B, DO-178B/C, DO-254, DO-160).

Responsibilities

• Lead top-level system architectures and define interfaces across avionics components.
• Develop, allocate and manage system-level requirements down to subsystems.
• Ensure traceability from mission needs through verification activities using DOORS.
• Define and oversee integration strategies across multiple avionics systems.
• Lead system integration troubleshooting and system-level test planning.
• Contribute to design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) and mentor junior engineers.
• Interface with customers, suppliers and internal teams to align stakeholders.
