Job summary

Rochester Institute of Technology’s NTID Counseling & Academic Advising Services seeks a Counselor/Academic Advisor to provide academic advising, career counseling, and personal/transitional support to a caseload of students on campus. You will collaborate with institute faculty, staff, parents, vocational rehabilitation counselors, and others, and complete essential documentation.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work or a related clinical field.
• Two or more years of professional counseling, academic advising or career counseling work experience.
• Sign language proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Provides academic advising, career counseling, and personal/transitional counseling to a caseload of students.
• Consults with institute faculty, staff, parents, vocational rehabilitation counselors, and others.
• Completes documentation such as case notes, outreach, and reports.
• Participates in department meetings.
• Engages in professional development meetings.
• Conducts presentations and projects as needed.
• Meets with students to review degree progress and navigate course registration.
