Job summary

Ball State University Dining is hiring a Bookkeeper and Auditor to perform bookkeeping and auditing tasks, including AP/AR, daily cashier reports, and financial record preparation. This on-campus, full-time role offers a broad benefits package and opportunities to contribute to monthly financial reporting and inventory valuation.

The position requires accuracy under deadlines, strong computer skills (Word/Excel/Outlook), and customer-service excellence in a busy dining environment.

Qualifications

• Up to eighteen months of bookkeeping, auditing, accounting, or related training or education beyond high school or equivalent.
• One to three years of bookkeeping, auditing, or accounting experience; excellent computer skills in Windows Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Demonstrated excellence in customer service.
• Demonstrated ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions and changes.

Responsibilities

• Audit vendor invoices to BSU purchase orders; reconcile differences with vendors and/or unit management; type accounts payable vouchers and process via BSU Accounting Department for payment.
• Audit daily cashier check-out sheets and cashier sales deposits; prepare sales deposit reports; submit sales deposits and reports to Bursar, report errors to management.
• Audit cash POS records for accurate daily report of product movement for each branded concept; prepare spreadsheets to report movement and royalties due.
• Prepare monthly inventory valuation, purchases, accounts payable/receivable, and journal vouchers for transfers; submit to proper offices; meet deadlines.
• Collect receipts for pick-up sales, maintain proper denomination, report discrepancies to General Manager.
• Provide excellent customer service, including telephone handling and message taking; communicate with management in a timely, courteous manner.
