Job summary

Mercer University is seeking a Lab Assistant in Biology for the Biology Department in Macon, GA. You will assist with setting up labs, organizing materials, and supporting instructors for Introductory Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, and Zoology sessions.

The role requires current Mercer student status with biology-related study and preferred prior lab experience. Pay starts at $10.80/hour with 15 scheduled hours, start 08/25/2026 and end 05/10/2027, under strict safety and confidentiality

Qualifications

Must be a currently enrolled student at Mercer University.
Biology or related field major/minor is a plus.
Previous lab experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Set up and prepare laboratory exercises before class.
Gather and distribute laboratory materials, equipment, specimens, models, and other resources.
Assist instructors and Laboratory Coordinator with lab activities for Introduction to Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, and Zoology.
Prepare laboratory stations and ensure materials are available before class.
Assist with breakdown of laboratory activities after class.
Clean, disinfect, and organize lab spaces and equipment as per procedures.
Return equipment and materials to designated storage locations.
Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and notify of shortages or damage.
Handle materials and equipment safely per procedures and policies.
Follow all safety protocols and university policies.
