Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid FL driver's license.
• Preferred 1 year of experience with research animal care or certification as Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Animal Care Services directives and SOPs as governed by the Animal Welfare Act and applicable rules.
• Provide basic care of animals and animal facilities by performing simple routine caretaking and cage wash duties as directed.
• Observe animals for signs of illness, injury or behavior changes and report deviations immediately to the Operations Manager.
• Perform euthanasia of rodents under supervision using carbon dioxide with approved alternate method.
• Maintain housing and environmental parameters within NIH guidelines; sanitize equipment and animal holding areas.
• Assist in receiving and rotating feed and supplies; transport caging supplies between animal rooms and cage wash areas.
• Keep up to date on SOPs via Policy Manager and log time worked in Time Clock Plus.
