Job summary

Independence Preparatory Academy is seeking an On-Call Substitute Teacher to provide classroom instruction when the regular teacher is absent. You will maintain a safe, engaging environment and adapt to grade levels and subjects as needed.

Responsibilities include implementing teacher plans, supervising students, and communicating with administrators. A high school diploma and prior classroom experience are required, with preferred bachelor’s degree and Alabama Substitute Teacher Certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (minimum).
• Prior classroom or substitute teaching experience.
• Ability to pass all required background screenings.
• Strong communication and classroom management skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher.
• Foster a positive, respectful classroom culture.
• Supervise students throughout the instructional day.
• Maintain accurate attendance and classroom records.
• Communicate effectively with school administrators and staff.
• Follow all school policies and emergency procedures.
• Leave detailed notes regarding the day’s activities and student progress.
