Job summary

West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (WVSDB) seeks a Substitute Aide II/III/IV-Supervisory/Transportation to support teachers, work with students in small groups, and supervise bus routes. This on-call role requires a high school diploma or GED, and fulfillment of state-approved training.

Criminal background checks are mandatory; compensation follows the WVSDB salary schedule based on experience and education.

Qualifications

• Aide II: high school diploma or GED and state-approved training.
• Aide III: high school diploma or GED and six college credits or equivalent experience.
• Aide IV: high school diploma or GED and 18 state-approved college credits; in-service credits may count.
• Must meet WV Code qualifications and pass criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with planning, preparation, and distribution of classroom materials.
• Maintain a safe learning environment for students.
• Provide individualized and small-group instruction to reinforce skills.
• Supervise students on buses and assist with personal care services on route.
• Participate in bus duty, hall monitoring, lunchroom, and playground duties.
• Attend required trainings and promote positive pupil/staff relations.
