Job summary

The Cambridge Transportation Department is seeking a Substitute Bus Aide for the 2026-2027 school year. The role assists the bus driver to ensure student safety during transport to and from school and school-related activities, with responsibility for seating and safety protocol adherence.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent (preferred), strong communication, and the ability to work with students of all ages, including those with special needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to work with children, including those with special needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must pass BCI/FBI background checks.
• Ability to complete required training as directed by the district.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in boarding, seating, and exiting the bus safely.
• Monitor student behavior and maintain a safe, orderly environment on the bus.
• Provide support to students with disabilities or medical needs as assigned.
• Communicate effectively with the bus driver regarding student needs.
• Follow district policies and state laws related to transportation and student safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.
