Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking a temporary on-call Shuttle Bus Driver to support a workforce of about 9,000 staff across multiple campuses. You will transport staff, supervise tours for Lab guests and VIPs, and ensure vehicle safety per DOT standards.

Requirements include a high school diploma, CDL with passenger endorsement, current DOT medical card, and the ability to work up to 29 hours per week between 7:15 AM and 6:15 PM.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and English communication.
• CDL Class A or B with passenger endorsement required; no points.
• Current DOT medical card and compliance with DOT drug/alcohol testing.
• Able to fuel, clean and maintain APL vehicles.
• Work well independently and in a team with strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Able to drive for a minimum of 3 hours without breaks; flexible to an 8-hour daily schedule; 7:15 AM–6:15 PM; up to 29 hours/week.
• Able to work on a call status.
• US Citizenship or permanent resident status required to access APL facilities.

Responsibilities

• Drive APL vehicles, transporting passengers and equipment on campus.
• Drive special bus tours for staff, sponsors, Lab guests and VIPs.
• Inspect and fuel buses; report issues per DOT/FSHA regulations.
• Maintain cleanliness, safety and operational standards of vehicles.
• Assist in other areas as needed.
