Job summary

Whitsons Culinary Group is seeking a Substitute School Food Service Worker to support our school nutrition team. This flexible, on-call role runs Monday–Friday with no nights or weekends, offering mid-afternoon hours and summers off.

No experience needed as training is provided, and you’ll help serve nutritious meals to students and staff in local schools. Key tasks include prep, portioning, serving meals, maintaining food safety, and keeping serving areas clean.

Qualifications

• Must complete all Whitsons and government-mandated training as required.
• Minimum 1 year of professional food service experience preferred but not required.
• ServSafe certification preferred but not required.
• Ability to speak and read English sufficient to understand and perform job assignments, follow recipes, and comply with safety requirements.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a food service team in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Prep, portion, and serve meals to students and staff.
• Set up and clean serving areas and kitchen equipment.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Contribute to a positive and welcoming mealtime atmosphere.
• Support the team and jump in wherever needed.
