Job summary

Rochester Schools is seeking a Facilities Technician to support maintenance across multiple school sites. You will perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and daily inspections of HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems while ensuring building safety and security during shifts.

The role requires a high school diploma, a Minnesota driver's license, and relevant licenses/certifications (boiler, electrician, pool operator).

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Minnesota Driver's License is required.
• 3 years experience working in a commercial or school setting on HVAC equipment.
• 1st Class C boiler’s license required; 2nd Class C acceptable with 1st Class C within 90 days.
• Current Registered Unlicensed Electrician License required.
• Current Certified Pool Operator Certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Complies with all School District, City, State and OSHA policies and procedures.
• Available on call for weekend and after hour emergencies; on-call rotation and 2 hours minimum pay; $600 yearly stipend.
• Perform Preventative Maintenance and repairs at multiple schools.
• Maintain daily vehicle/equipment/tools upkeep and complete required maintenance requests.
• Record daily HVAC, mechanical and electrical inspections; manage boiler checks and repairs as needed.
• Ensure building and property security during shifts; participate in snow removal overtime as needed.
• Operate snow removal equipment and move up to 50 pounds of materials.
• Perform tasks requiring ladders/platforms up to 30 feet and work in confined spaces.
• Provide custodial/grounds support and rotate duties within Facilities Department.
