Job summary

Centennial School District 28J seeks a Cover Custodian/Grounds Keeper to support maintenance across multiple district buildings in Portland. The role is on-site with a flexible schedule, including early mornings and evenings, and pays $21.29 to $29.47 per hour.

Starting immediately, the position reports to the Facilities team and requires a high school diploma, valid driver’s license, and insurability. Benefits include medical and dental coverage for eligible staff.

Qualifications

• Experience in a school setting preferred.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods and follow oral/written instructions.
• Flexible on-call schedule and on-site availability as needed.
• Valid driver’s license and evidence of insurability.

Responsibilities

• Maintain school buildings and grounds under supervision.
• Clean premises to maintain a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment.
• Mow, edge, trim shrubs, and maintain landscaping.
• Perform minor repairs and handle emergencies as needed.
• Communicate effectively with staff, students and parents.
