Job summary

Alliance City Schools is seeking a Substitute Custodian to maintain cleanliness and safety across school facilities in Alliance, Ohio. The role involves daily cleaning, minor maintenance, and ensuring doors and windows are secured during and after school hours.

The position requires attention to safety, reliability, and the ability to work independently or with a team. Starting immediately, the role is paid hourly and includes responsibilities for restrooms, classrooms, and common areas.

Qualifications

• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Certification of good health signed by a licensed physician.
• Residence in the taxing district preferred.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications may be acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Keeps building and premises neat, clean and safe at all times.
• Maintains safety and cleanliness according to guidelines and regulations.
• Shovels, plows, and salts walks as needed for safety.
• Performs general maintenance, upkeep and painting as needed.
• Cleans rooms daily and dusts surfaces.
• Cleans corridors after school and during the day as needed.
• Cleans restrooms and disinfects surfaces daily.
• Washes windows twice yearly or as needed.
• Accepts responsibility for opening and closing the building daily.
• Keeps inventory of supplies and requests replacements in advance.
• Moves furniture and equipment as required for activities.
• Ensures proper storage and disposal of trash and waste.
• Checks and repairs electrical installations where possible.
• Repairs or replaces worn parts and bulbs as needed.
• Maintains equipment and tools and promotes a safe environment.
