Job summary

The Gaming and Technology Academy of Saginaw is seeking a Substitute Bus Driver to transport students to and from various sites and events, ensuring their safety aboard the bus. This on-call role requires a valid Michigan CDL B with P and S endorsements and an unexpired Medical Examiner's Certificate, with the driver maintaining safe operations and appropriate records.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading students, enforcing safety belts, performing daily vehicle inspections, and reporting

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan CDL B with P and S endorsements.
• Medical Examiner's Certificate (unexpired).
• Course Completion card (yellow or green) unexpired.
• Safe driving record.
• Ability to read and interpret maps and maintain passenger safety.
• Calmness in emergencies and good judgment while operating a bus.
• Knowledge of first aid practices and reporting requirements.
• Ability to operate a two-way radio and follow written instructions.
• Meet physical requirements and maintain safe work relationships.

Responsibilities

• Drive a school bus safely according to schedules, transporting students to/from homes, schools, and events.
• Oversee loading/unloading and ensure passenger safety and seatbelt use.
• Maintain order, document incidents, and report disciplinary matters.
• Conduct daily safety and vehicle inspections; report repairs and keep bus clean.
• Transport medications or belongings between parents and school staff as needed.
• Maintain mileage, routing, maintenance, and schedule records.
• Attend trainings and maintain required licenses and certificates.
• Notify supervisors of delays and assist with other routes when needed.
