Job summary

PRC Baker Places is seeking a Relief Residential Counselor to provide support and counseling to adults with psychiatric, substance use, and HIV-related disabilities. This on-call, non-benefited position offers exposure to diverse settings across several San Francisco sites.

You will assist with intake, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and daily living skills coaching in a social rehabilitation framework that emphasizes harm reduction and client empowerment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 1 year full-time experience serving people with mental disabilities.
• Experience in direct provision of services to clients.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake interviews and assist with treatment plan development and discharge planning.
• Assess the clinical needs of resident clients.
• Evaluate clients for potential crisis situations and determine appropriate intervention.
• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions as assigned.
• Monitor and document clients’ progress toward achievement of individual goals.
• Record clinical notes and hourly rounds to meet Medi-Cal standards and licensure requirements.
• Maintain shift coverage and primary supervision and support of residential clients.
• Act as a role model - guiding clients and facilitating daily living skills, self-care, personal interaction, social relationships and time management.
• Facilitate and supervise clients with residential house chores, meal preparation, and group activities.
• Ensure clients are linked with a primary care provider and access community resources.
• Participate in staff and shift change meetings.
• Maintain professional boundaries with clients and staff.
• Maintain agency 30 hour per year staff development training requirement.
• Ability to work at a San Francisco worksite, effective post Covid.
• Promote agency mission, purpose, and values in relationships with internal and external partners.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
