Join Midstate Radiology Associates (MRA) as a Per Diem, Nuclear Medicine Technologist at MidState Medical Center in Meriden. Operates nuclear detection and imaging equipment, prepares radiopharmaceuticals, and follows established protocols to provide diagnostic images for physicians.

Role requires ARRT and/or NMTCB certification, CT license within 12 months, and CPR as needed. On-call schedule and ongoing education are part of the position, with competitive compensation based on experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • ARRT certification and/or NMTCB certification.
  • CPR certification may be required.
  • Maintenance of continuing education credits as required by licensure.
  • CT State License within 12 months of hire date.
  • Individual exceptions may apply only under the discretion of the Medical and Administrative Director.
  • Desirable: At least one year’s experience as a nuclear medicine technologist.
  • Associates or Applied Science Degree in related field.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and administers radioactive agents by adhering to procedures for preparation of kits and IV injection to ensure accurate diagnostic testing/imaging.
  • Assesses the appropriateness of requested exams using pre-established guidelines.
  • Operates nuclear detection, imaging, and computer processing equipment to provide diagnostic images.
  • Performs quality control tests on imaging, Hot Lab equipment, and radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Adheres to radiation safety standards and NRC regulations.
  • Maintains Nuclear Medicine equipment in good order and cleans/disinfects after use.
  • Demonstrates yearly competencies for patient care across age groups.
  • Documents patient and exam information and stores images in the archive for retrieval.
  • Routinely prepares examinations for interpretation by radiologists and inputs data in RIS to capture charges.
  • Possesses computer skills for reports and correspondence.
  • Works as a team member across units to provide quality service.
  • Provides clinical supervision to students and evaluates growth and competence in procedures.
