Job summary

Topeka Public Schools is seeking a part-time substitute teacher to support regular and special education students in the Topeka, Kansas area. You will deliver lesson plans and supervise students in classrooms, ensuring the instructional time is used effectively.

Candidates must hold a Kansas teaching or substitute license and meet KSDE certification requirements, with strong English and math skills and the ability to build positive relationships with staff and students.

Qualifications

Must hold a Kansas Certified Teacher License, OR Standard Substitute License OR Emergency Substitute Teacher License.
Know ledge of proper English usage, grammar, vocabulary, spelling and punctuation, and basic math.
Ability to follow oral and written directions and establish effective working relationships with staff and students.

Responsibilities

Implement lesson plans left by the classroom teacher while ensuring the integrity of academic time in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate.
Create and maintain a climate of respect and fairness for all students; demonstrate fair and ethical judgment.
Maintain discipline and classroom control in accordance with school and district policies; apply appropriate consequences and resolve conflicts.
Maintain and respect confidentiality of student, school personnel, and parent information.
Ensure adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students.
Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Perform other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s).
