Job summary

The City of Fridley Fire Department is seeking dedicated individuals to join as Paid, On-Call Firefighters. You will respond to fires, medical emergencies, rescues, and hazmat situations while developing life-saving skills and engaging with the community through education.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ and meet NFPA medical/fitness standards.
• Complete EMT/Firefighter training within 24 months; preference for prior credentials.
• Pass interview, medical, agility, psych, drug test, and background checks.
• Must reside within six minutes of a fire station.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergencies in the assigned district during scheduled periods.
• Perform firefighting duties per NFPA standards: drive apparatus, operate pumps, lay hose, suppress, ventilate, overhaul.
• Engage in technical rescue, EMS, and hazmat responses.
• Attend weekly drills, department meetings, and community safety activities.
• Serve on standby or duty crews as assigned.
• Assist in maintenance of facilities and equipment around stations.
• Present safety programs to community groups and schools.
• All other duties as assigned.
