Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Typically 3–5 years of related OR experience.
• Operating Room Technician certification preferred; BLS may be required at unit level.
• AHA BLS with 6 months validity is required at unit level.
• Maintain current unit-specific competencies and licenses as required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms for procedures.
• Maintain readiness of operating room instruments and equipment.
• Assist in supplying instruments and drapes; perform counts with circulating nurse.
• Maintain aseptic technique throughout all phases of work.
• Assists in transfer of patient to recovery and in room turnover.
• Assists surgeons and scrub nurses by anticipating needs during procedures.
• Identify and manage specimens after surgery until handover.
• Adhere to safety measures for patient, self and team.
