Job summary

Era Living's University House Wallingford in Seattle is seeking on-call Resident Assistants for evening and night shifts. You will support the Community Health team with personal care, observation, and ensuring resident dignity in licensed apartments.

Qualifications include CNA/HCA certification (RN with NAR considered), and required training in dementia care, first aid, CPR, and medication assistance. CEUs and meals are part of the benefits package.

Qualifications

• CNA or Home Care Aide certification required; RN with NAR license acceptable with conditions.
• Dementia and mental health training to be completed within 90 days.
• Current first aid and CPR certification required.
• Medication technician certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Food handler's certificate or ability to obtain within 14 days.
• Two years’ experience with seniors preferred; one year caregiving preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to residents in licensed apartments (bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, toileting, feeding).
• Communicate effectively with residents, including those with cognitive impairment.
• Assist residents with self-medications as needed (training available).
• Perform simple housekeeping per protocol and maintain clean living spaces.

Era Living is seeking on-call Resident Assistants to become the newest members of our Community Health team located in our University House Wallingford Community, Seattle, WA.Available on-call shifts will be scheduled for evenings, 3:00PM to 11:30PM, and nights, 11:00PM to 7:30AM.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Resident Assistant carries out the concepts of Assisted Living, ensuring resident choice, independence, privacy, respect, and dignity in all interactions. Resident Assistants provide personal care services and exceptional clinical observation of residents living in licensed apartments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, transferring, toileting and feeding) to all residents living in licensed apartments
• Communicate effectively with persons with cognitive impairment and mental health issues
• Assist residents with their self-medications as required (we are opened to train on learning how to administer medication to the residents)
• Provide simple housekeeping tasks, such as tidying up the apartment and bathroom, and emptying trash per protocol

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to provide all aspects of personal care to older adults at all functional levels
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
• Ability to schedule tasks effectively to meet strict deadlines and within allotted time
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English
• Ability to pass DSHS and State background check, required

Education and Experience:

• Certified Nursing Assistant or Home Care Aide Certification required; Registered Nursing Assistant Certification acceptable with proof of graduation from Era Living approved school, a copy of NAR license, and on condition that CNA license is earned within 120 days of hire
• Must complete Dementia and Mental Health training within 90 days of hire
• Current first aid and CPR certification, required
• Possess Medication Technician certification or able to obtain within 30-days of hire, as required by community
• Food Handler’s Certificate or able to obtain within 14 days of hire
• Two (2) years’ experience working with seniors preferred
• One (1) year experience care giving preferred
