Qualifications

• Licensed attorney in good standing in Texas.
• Two or more years of criminal law practice in Texas.
• Resided in City of El Paso in the prior 12 months.
• Knowledge of Texas State Law and City of El Paso ordinances governing misdemeanors.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Substitute Associate Judge for Class C misdemeanors.
• Perform magistrate duties for defendants arrested by El Paso police and other local law enforcement.
• Handle trial sessions, pretrial motions, hearings; advise defendants of rights and rulings.
• Work on evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts as scheduled.
