Job summary

Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa is seeking an On-Call Elderly Nutrition Program Cook at the Red Cliff Elderly Nutrition Center. The role provides back-up support for meal preparation, sanitation, and service, stepping in when regular staff are unavailable.

The position is on-call with no interviews, and responsibilities include assisting with meals, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring safety and a welcoming environment for Elders.

Qualifications

• Basic reading and writing skills.
• General knowledge of food preparation, recipe reading, and kitchen equipment.
• Knowledge of and sensitivity to Ojibwe culture and traditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing and serving meals in quantity.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen and dining area.
• Perform daily kitchen tasks such as dishwashing, cleaning, and organizing.
• Package home-delivered meal take-outs as directed.
• Maintain simple logs such as meal counts and food temperatures.
• Follow direction from the Head Cook or Elderly Services Director.
• Work cooperatively and respectfully with clients, staff, and volunteers.
