Job summary

Hocon Gas, Inc. in Waterbury, CT seeks a Heating Oil Technician to diagnose, service, and repair oil-fired heating systems and perform preventative maintenance. You will respond to no-heat and emergency calls, document work orders, and maintain equipment safely.

A CT license or equivalent certification is required, along with a valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to 75 lbs. On-call availability during peak season is expected.

Qualifications

• State of Connecticut oil burner technician license or equivalent certification (S-2 or B-2 preferred)
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
• Prior hands-on experience servicing oil-fired heating systems
• Ability to independently diagnose and repair heating equipment
• Willingness to work on-call and outside normal business hours during peak heating season
• Ability to meet physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 75 lbs

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, and repair residential and light commercial oil-fired heating equipment
• Perform preventative maintenance including tune-ups, cleanings, and safety inspections
• Respond to no-heat and emergency service calls, including participation in an on-call rotation
• Accurately complete service orders, work notes, and parts billing each day
• Maintain service vehicles, tools, and equipment in safe working condition
• Follow all applicable safety procedures, environmental regulations, and local codes
• Immediately report incidents, safety concerns, or accidents to the General Manager
• Perform physical work including lifting, carrying, bending, and working in confined or mechanical spaces
