Job summary

National Institute for Fitness and Sport "NIFS" in Wheaton, IL seeks Substitute Group Fitness Instructors/Health Fitness Specialists to provide wellness services to senior living clients. This as-needed role covers absences of regular staff with weekday daytime shifts.

You will guide members through personalized exercise programs, lead classes across balance, cardio, and strength formats, and collaborate with therapists to improve health outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field preferred.
• Certified Personal Trainer and other relevant certifications (e.g., ACSM, NASM, ACE) considered.
• Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications; minimum of 1 year of experience in a fitness setting.
• Strong knowledge of exercise principles, techniques, and equipment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to different teaching styles and client needs.
• Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire individuals to achieve their fitness goals.
• Familiarity with exercise modifications for health conditions or injuries.

Responsibilities

• Guide members through personalized exercise programs based on goals, fitness levels, and health conditions.
• Lead group exercise classes, including balance, cardiovascular workouts, strength training, and other formats.
• Provide guidance and supervision to ensure proper exercise techniques and prevent injuries.
• Assist with health promotion initiatives, such as wellness workshops and events as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of client progress and program participation.
• Collaborate with other wellness professionals, such as physical therapists, to optimize clients' health outcomes.
