Job summary

National Institute for Fitness and Sport (NIFS) seeks a Health Fitness Specialist Substitute to support senior residents in Pikesville, MD, per diem. You will assist in managing day-to-day fitness operations under the Fitness Manager, grow with the team, and help establish service standards across the facility.

You will teach group classes, guide wellness planning, and maintain safety and facility guidelines while engaging members and partnering with staff on various duties.

Qualifications

• Degree in a health-related field or progress toward degree.
• Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification is required.
• Experience with older adult clientele is preferred.
• Ability to teach balance, chair exercise and muscle conditioning classes; aquatic experience preferred.
• ACSM or other industry certifications acknowledged.

Responsibilities

• Teaches group exercise classes onsite; adapts activities to fitness levels and follows safety guidelines.
• Supervises fitness center and answers member questions on health and wellbeing.
• Assess health status to provide exercise prescriptions and wellness-related recommendations.
• Establishes a positive, professional rapport with members.
• Cross-trains to learn responsibilities of other staff onsite.
• Partners with staff to clean equipment and areas of the facility as needed.
• Maintains familiarity with NIFS policies; performs other duties as assigned.
