Job summary

Michigan State University Infrastructure Planning and Facilities is seeking an on-call Support Staff member for Forest Akers Golf Courses in East Lansing, MI. The role covers food service, custodial, grounds maintenance, and general labor on an on-call basis, with up to 29 hours per week from April through November at $16.50 per hour.

Qualifications

• Casual knowledge of tools and methods for grounds maintenance.
• Ability to wear protective footwear and perform physical tasks.
• Valid operator's license and motor vehicle check.
• Ability to work in variable and severe weather.
• Frequent lifting 26–75 pounds, occasional lift over 75 pounds.
• Basic computer literacy and use of email/internet.

Responsibilities

• Assist with general landscaping tasks: mow, water, fertilize, litter control, operate equipment, plant material installation, edging and more.
• Assist with irrigation installation, topsoil, seed and sod maintenance; move trees, shrubs and flowers; maintain plant maintenance database.
• Issue, receive, and store supplies; maintain erosion control devices; assist in monitoring safety and participate in tailgate cleanup.
