Job summary

IPG Photonics is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform routine and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and custodial tasks ensuring safe, functional facilities. You will address plumbing, doors, locks, windows, and general repairs, while supporting safety inspections and vendor coordination.

The role requires 1–3 years in facilities or related fields, basic knowledge of electrical/plumbing/HVAC, ability to lift 50+ lbs, and willingness to work on-call. IWMS familiarity is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1-3 years of experience in facilities, maintenance, construction, or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry.
• Ability to safely operate power tools, hand tools, and maintenance equipment.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physical tasks.
• Good organizational and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license (if required by organization).
• Willingness to work on-call.
• Familiarity with IWMS or maintenance tracking software is preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency with the ability to navigate standard computer systems, use email, enter data, and work with common software applications.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine rounds to identify and resolve/escalate issues.
• Address plumbing including leaks, clogged drains, and fixture repairs.
• Maintain and repair doors, locks, windows, flooring, furniture, painting, general building components, and other general repairs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the facilities manager.
• Respond to daily maintenance tickets and urgent repair requests in a timely manner.
• Set up and break down furniture, equipment, and spaces for meetings, events, or operational needs.
• Assist with inventory management for maintenance supplies and equipment.
• Work with outside vendors or contractors as needed for specialized repairs.
• Conduct regular safety inspections of the facility, tools, and equipment.
• Follow all OSHA, local codes, and organizational safety guidelines.
• Identify potential hazards and report or address them promptly.
• Support emergency response efforts, including snow/ice removal, storm prep, or facility shutdowns.
• Follow all company safety procedures and safety requirements.
