Job summary

Harris County Precinct One seeks reliable Custodians to support cleanliness, safety, and day-to-day maintenance of its buildings and facilities. The role requires on-call flexibility, including evenings and weekends, to meet operational demands.

The ideal candidate performs duties with minimal supervision and maintains high standards. Responsibilities include cleaning, floor care, restroom sanitation, and setting up spaces for meetings and events.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year custodial or maintenance experience preferred.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily custodial care of assigned buildings, offices, and facilities in accordance with established schedules.
• Maintain a clean and orderly environment by washing windows, walls, desks, tables, and benches; polishing metalwork and wood surfaces; and dusting furniture.
• Perform floor maintenance, including sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, waxing, vacuuming, and shampooing carpets.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, mirrors, and toilets; empty trash receptacles; and restock soap, paper towels, and other supplies.
• Move, set up, and arrange furniture and equipment to support meetings, events, and operational needs.
• Ensure the security of facilities by properly locking windows, doors, and gates; promptly report any incidents of vandalism, damage, or theft.
• Communicate effectively with staff regarding special custodial needs and facility concerns.
• Maintain basic records of completed work and request supplies in accordance with established procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support overall facility operations.
