Job summary

CorneaGen is seeking an Eye Recovery Technician for the Northern California region. This on-call, hourly role involves traveling to medical facilities to procure donated ocular tissue, with on-call duties and in-person requirements.

We provide on-the-job training; qualifications include an Associate degree or equivalent, strong attention to detail, teamwork, and excellent communication, plus reliable transportation to recovery sites and labs.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and highly relevant experience required
• Strong attention to detail and effective communication in a professional environment
• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and confidentiality
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures
• Ability to work under pressure and time constraints
• Ability to maintain a good attendance record
• Ability to provide at least 2 shifts of availability within a 7-day schedule
• Reliable transportation to recovery sites, laboratory and/or shipping facilities

Responsibilities

• Surgically procure donated human ocular tissue from cadavers (donors) following aseptic technique
• Draw blood from donors to send for serologic testing
• Obtain medical records from hospitals
• Utilize computer software to complete real-time documentation of procured tissue
• Participate in on-call schedule for ocular tissue recoveries
• Maintain confidentiality of donor related information
• Employ pre-determined shipping methods of recovered ocular tissue
• Maintain inventory of surgical instruments, shipping supplies, and other equipment provided to complete recoveries
• Performs other duties as needed or assigned
