Job summary

Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists is seeking an on-call Emergency Veterinary Surgeon (DACVS or residency-trained) to provide high-quality emergency surgical services in Buzzards Bay, MA. The role focuses on nights and occasional weekends, working within a collaborative critical care team.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of emergency surgical experience, strong client communication, and the flexibility to respond quickly to urgent cases while maintaining detailed case records.

Qualifications

• Board-certified surgeon (DACVS) or residency-trained veterinarian focused on small animal surgery.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in emergency surgical care.
• Ability to respond efficiently to a variety of surgical emergencies in a high-stakes environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with clients and hospital teams under stress.
• Flexibility to be on-call during nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality surgical intervention for emergency cases on an on-call basis, primarily during nights and 1-2 weekends per month.
• Collaborate with emergency veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to ensure a smooth and efficient patient care experience.
• Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding surgical outcomes and post-operative care.
• Maintain clear, detailed records for each case to ensure continuity of care.
