Job Description

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for On-Call Emergency Management Specialists - Safety to work out of our offices in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina or Texas, to include Jacksonville, FL; Tallahassee, FL; Orlando, FL; Tampa, FL; Miami, FL; Raleigh, NC; Columbia, SC; Dallas, TX; or Houston, TX. Be involved in projects with our Federal Programs Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

We are seeking individuals who are eager to assist during disasters on an on-call basis as a reservist employee, with the availability to deploy with little or no advance notice and for potentially long durations. This is not a full-time position.

Your Impact

  • Support Emergency Management team in servicing clients preparing for, responding to, and recovering from disasters nationwide and in US territories.
  • Deploy to Emergency Operations Center and/or Field Staging Area operations prior to, during, and post-disaster.
  • Perform a variety of duties including logistics, supply, cost/documentation and/or resource unit functions.
  • Attend periodic training throughout the year to maintain deployment eligibility.
  • Support Emergency Management Project Management functions.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • HS Diploma
  • 7+ years experience, including 1+ years in an Emergency Management role (Response, Recovery or related), or equivalent.
  • 3 years of cumulative safety experience, within the last 10 years, managing or implementing a SOH program on projects similar in industry type, size, and complexity as the project described in the contract scope of work.
  • 24 hours of documented formal classroom or online SOH-related training within the past five years and must maintain competency by taking 24 hours every three-year period for the duration of the contract.
  • Broad knowledge of Emergency Management principles, methods and techniques
  • FEMA Emergency Management Institute Independent Study - Professional Development Series certification.
  • Travel Required - Must be able to deploy to disaster area, with little or no advance notice and potentially for long durations.
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Emergency Management (or related field).
  • Asset Management and Supply Logistical Operational Experience.
  • Previous experience working at Field Staging Areas or state Emergency Operations Center or related environment.
