Job summary

Avamere Living is seeking a compassionate Cook to prepare nutritious meals for residents across varying levels of care at Avamere at Bethany in Portland.

You will follow menus, uphold food safety (ServSafe), accommodate dietary needs, and collaborate with the dietary/dining team to support resident well-being.

This on-call, part-time role offers weekend shifts and a wage of $18.89–$24.65 per hour DOE, with a perfect attendance incentive of $100 for full-time or $75 for part-time per pay period.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of Cook experience; hospital/healthcare setting preferred.
• ServSafe Manager certification required or willingness to obtain within 30 days.
• Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions with attention to details.
• Current Food Handlers card issued by local Health Department.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, ensuring proper temperature, appearance, and taste.
• Prepare alternative options and snacks for changing appetites and dietary needs.
• Adapt recipes for dietary needs (low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, vegetarian, texture-modified).
• Accommodate memory care dining challenges with appropriate meal formats.
• Maintain a warm, calm dining environment and encourage socialization.
• Follow ServSafe food safety, handling, and storage regulations.
