Job summary

Green Valley Rehabilitation Center, part of Volare Health, is seeking a Cook-On-Call to prepare meals meeting residents’ dietary needs and facility procedures. This PRN role involves varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, in Eugene, Oregon.

You will prepare and serve meals per menus, maintain sanitation, and support inventory. A Food Handler's permit or ServSafe certification is required, along with strong communication and teamwork in a care-focused environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Food Handler's permit / ServSafe certification as per State requirements.

• Ability to relate positively and work cooperatively with residents, families and associates.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food per planned menus, diet plans, recipes, portions and temperatures.
• Direct and assist in cleaning and sanitizing work areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Check trays for diet preferences and accuracy; proper storage of food and supplies; follow sanitary policies.
• Work in a non-temperature regulated environment near ovens and stoves.
• Ensure food and supplies are available for next meals and assist in inventorying incoming foods.

Green Valley Rehabilitation Center is part of the Volare Health portfolio of long-term care skilled nursing and short-term rehabilitation centers located in multiple states. We welcome our residents, their families, and our staff with warm hearts.

We are looking for a Cook to prepare meals which meet requests and dietary needs of our residents. If you have restaurant cooking experience, are ready to make a difference, and put a smile on others' faces as they enjoy your prepared dishes, we want to hear from you.

Summary

The Cook is responsible to prepare food in accordance with prescribed resident diet specifications, facility procedures, and dietary and sanitary regulations under the supervision of the Dietary Services Manager.

Job Functions

• Prepare and serve food and meals food in accordance with planned menus, diet plans, recipes, portion, and temperature control procedures and facility policies.
• Direct and assist in cleaning and sanitizing work areas, equipment and floors, dishes, and utensils.
• Check all trays for menu and diet preferences and accuracy; ensure proper storage of food and supplies; adhere to universal precautions and sanitary, safety, and infection control policies and procedures.
• Be able to work in a non-temperature regulated environment (work near ovens, stoves, enter walk in refrigerators/freezers).
• Ensure that food and supplies are available for the next meals and assist in inventorying and storing incoming foods and supplies, and report any hazardous conditions, equipment, accidents, and incidents.
