Job summary

Washington Adventist University (WAU) is seeking a part-time Security Officer to patrol campus, enforce regulations, and maintain a safe environment. The role requires monitoring surveillance, responding to incidents, and completing detailed reports to protect people and property.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, 3–6 months related experience, strong communication and customer service skills, and must obtain a Maryland Special Police Officer license within six months plus

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3–6 months related experience and/or training.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Must be eligible to obtain Maryland Special Police Officer license within 6 months.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Must pass criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Patrols University premises to protect persons and property and enforces regulations.
• Secures facilities by patrolling, monitors surveillance, and inspects access points.
• Responds to disturbances and mediates disputes; observes suspicious behavior.
• Completes reports by recording observations and obtaining signatures.
• Maintains confidentiality and complies with laws and university policies.
