Job summary

Marion Independent School District is seeking an on-call Substitute Building Custodian to support daily cleaning and maintenance of school facilities in Marion, IA. You will perform cleaning duties, assist with event setup, and respond to building needs as directed by the Director of Operations.

The role requires physical stamina, the ability to operate custodial equipment, and adherence to safety and break schedules.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; prior custodial experience preferred.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to operate custodial equipment.
• Ability to read instructions and follow safety guidelines; reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning duties for the building, including restrooms, floors, windows, and trash disposal daily.
• Set up and tear down rooms and gymnasiums for programs and events as needed.
• Respond to emergencies and address safety concerns promptly with supervisor guidance.
• Maintain building and grounds, including snow removal and grounds upkeep as assigned.
• Secure building after hours and adhere to schedules; follow break and lunch times.
