Johnson County Mental Health is looking for qualified applicants to fill the position of a on call, Behavioral Health Specialist for the Youth Crisis Center, a new program at the Johnson County Mental Health Center. The unit has 24/7 operations and typically individuals stay in the program for 3-5 days. This position is eligible for a shift differential specific to overnight hours($1.50/hr), weekend hours ($0.75/hr), and evening hours ($0.75/hr). Job Description




Job duties include:

    Provides, assists with, or coaches individuals on personal care needs with limited supervision; provides crisis interventions (including evidence based practices to maintain the safety of individuals); monitors youth interactions and behaviors; monitors medication administration as prescribed; monitors and documents mental and physical condition of individuals.
  • Teaches, coaches and provides guidance and support on various skills to enable productive lives of individuals; assists youth with managing their emotions, assists and supports individual treatment/recovery goals and assist youth in developing positive coping skills; develops and maintains a positive and effective relationship with service recipients, families, and other service providers.
  • Organizes and participates in meetings related to care coordination; completes documentation for direct services provided to ensure timely and accurate completion.
  • Transports individuals receiving services to appointments, activities, and/or work.





Job Requirements




Minimum Job Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent and one year of experience working in a human services field are required. A valid driver's license with acceptable driving record is preferred.

Experience working with adolescents in a behavioral health setting is preferred.

Minimum Shifts: Candidates are required to cover a minimum of 1 shift per month.

Annual Hour Limit: Candidates may work a maximum of 999 hours per year.

Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with adolescents in a behavioral health setting is preferred.

Education/Experience Substitutions:

Education may be substituted for experience.

All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.
