WSP is currently initiating a search for On-call Archaeologist Field Technicians in Oregon and Washington. Field duties could also extend to surrounding states. This position will be a temporary, part-time role.

Your Impact
  • Conduct cultural resources fieldwork, reporting, and mitigation in support of pre-construction project design and engineering.
  • Assist with all aspects of fieldwork, monitoring, data collection, inventory, analyses, and site form preparation.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to staying current with cultural resources management, and local, state, and Section 106 regulations and planning practices.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 0-2 years of experience in environmental planning and permitting, conducting surveys, impact assessments, and regulatory compliance related to transportation, energy, zoning, and land activities.
  • Knowledge of research techniques, and familiarity with prehistoric and/or historic archaeology.
  • Understanding of public and private sector requirements for cultural resources surveys.
  • Willingness to travel and work outside regular hours if needed.
  • Ability to use GPS for data collection.
  • Good organizational, multi-tasking, and attention to detail skills.
  • Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency with office software and technology.
  • Physical ability to perform surveys, carry gear, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Experience in identifying archaeological materials.
  • Willingness to travel for up to 8-day rotations.
  • Ability to pass a Fit for Duty exam and Motor Vehicle screening.
Preferred Qualifications
  • B.A./B.S./MS in Anthropology, Archaeology, History, or related field.
  • Experience in the Pacific Northwest.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS or AGOL software.
  • Knowledge of Section 106 regulations and local environmental laws.
  • Progress toward or ability to obtain federal and state cultural resource permits in Oregon and Washington.

Compensation

Expected salary: $20.39 - $28.03 per hour. Compensation may vary based on experience, education, and location. WSP reserves the right to adjust pay and benefits accordingly.
