Job summary

Schoolcraft College is seeking an Aquatics Coordinator – On Call to oversee a busy community pool, including classes, rentals, lap swim and private lessons. The role emphasizes pool equipment and maintenance, with up to 29 hours weekly and evenings/weekends required.

The position offers pay at $22 per hour, and requires current lifeguard certification and experience in a busy pool setting. Scheduling is allocated across three staff, with some seasonal variations.

Qualifications

• Must have current lifeguard certification (Red Cross preferred).
• Must have experience working in a busy pool setting.

Responsibilities

• Monitors the professionalism of lifeguards and instructors.
• Addresses student concerns as needed or directs them to PPL staff.
• Assists with recruiting and scheduling lifeguards as a backup.
• Recommends equipment orders and submits maintenance work orders for pool repairs.
• Works with facilities to submit work orders and to develop a plan for future maintenance needs.
• Inventories and organizes equipment.
• Maintains class certificates and updates as needed.
• Fills in and updates one pool chart and web schedule.
• Assists in the first two (2) weeks of class to address student needs.
• Acts as a substitute lifeguard or instructor when needed.
• Assists with training new lifeguards and instructors.
• Other duties as assigned.
