Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must obtain Animal Control Officer Certification within six months of hire.
  • Must obtain Florida Euthanasia Certification within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to complaints concerning animals at large, cruelty, injuries, nuisances, and attacks on humans or animals.
  • Investigate animal bites, quarantine animals, and assess rabies risk.
  • Assume on-call emergency responsibilities and respond to injured animals.
  • Impalnd and transport injured wildlife and domestic animals as needed.
  • Issue warnings and citations, and testify in County Court when required.
  • Perform euthanasia and decapitations for rabies examinations as needed.
  • Assist with kennel duties and maintain transport vehicles.
